So....I had some fraud committed against me and Midland ended up with this supposed "debt" i had with them. I notified them (3 times by writing). They just ignored my request for documentation (of course they don't have it because its fraud) i also wrote them several times letting them know the debt was fraudulent. These people are knowingly breaking the law, and they don't care! because NO ONE has held them accountable! The laws are a joke when it comes to credit reporting agencies and collections companies. The facts are they don't have to have ant proof to report it, but you have to have proof to remove it and then still they will not remove it.

I still get calls 9 years after the statute of limitations ran its course. It ran out in 2015 a few times a year I will get calls for a brief period. Mine was never reported to the credit bureau not even in the beginning

I'm not negotiating. They are not the original creditor, therefore, I owe them nothing. I am working on my defense now. This debt has been sold THREE times! I want all the contracts and full accounting on EVERYTHING, as I have no Personal Knowledge of these people and their practices. Those are Reasonable Requests. Had a court appt. yesterday and told them I do not agree and we need a trial. Date set for Nov. 4.

One thing i learned from watching many videos like yours is that someone shouldnt engage a collector by mail or ph bcuz that will confirm to the collector that the debt is YOURS and opens the door for them to sue, and anyways its no guarantee the collector will delete if debt is paid in full, im waiting 7 yrs and my debts will fall off 🤣🤣🤣🤣

What if the original account belonged to Republic Bank, which went under, and was sold to a debt collector against your will? That should be a different situation. I was paying Republic, and they went under. Then, these guys (NCB) bought the debt and started harassing me. When I asked for validation, they sent some documents in an unmarked envelope. I have sent a registered letter outlining the only contact from that day forward will only through a letter, no phone calls and no emails. They called and lied to me about not receiving the letter. Once I said it was sent registered mail. She had it in her hand. She tried to confirm my address I said no, it’s on the registered mail. Told her not to call again. She’s called 2 more times. How to get rid of portfolio recovery after 5 years on my credit report

I am in La. I am being taken to foreclosure court by Shellpoint. The thing is that I have made repeated attempts to pay the balance due (the reinstatement amount). They refuse to accept it or send it back. They are lying and being extremely dishonest. My house is worth a lot more than I owe on it, so they are trying to steal it and price gouging with unethical fees that were added after my payment attempts. I want to keep my house and prevent this fraudulent company from doing this to others.

I will tell the story of how I handled a debt collector. My Father was not good when it came to handling money. In the early 1990s, he did something really stupid EVEN while in the early stages of what would be a terminal illness. Then there was a default because my sister got over her head and just left my mom holding the bag because my dad had co-signed the note. I was still working in Georgia at the time and although I was living close to 120 miles from my hometown I did check on my mom at least 2 times a month. I counted on both sisters who lived closer to fill in those gaps. My mom called me upset because a debt collector had called about the mess my dad and sister left. She asked the man to call her later when I was there. So I took off from my job and did the best I could to work out of my mom's home for almost a full week. Finally, the man called. The debt was almost $30,000 and I could have written a check and paid it. I would have had that man's threats had teeth. My mom did not own the house, my mom also owned no real estate and had nothing of value for the company to take. The man really did not want to speak to me but I talked to him, and he hung up on me. So I did some research and found an email address for the company and I sent one. About 2 weeks later I got a phone call from the man that ran their collections dept. I unloaded on that man. I told him my mother was in her 70s, living on a meager social security check. Further, I notified him there would be a court order against them if they did not stop badgering my mother. The man said I can get a judgment. I replied getting a Judgement is easy. Enforcing said Judgement is the problem. They went after my mom, I had her phone number changed and all correspondence was round filed. I did finally have a last conversation maybe a year after they filed the Judgement. They called me at my workplace. I told them the entire story. I expressed my feelings about what had happened. The man said your mom did sign that paper. I told him yes she did so, but it was under duress because my father forced her to sign it. I then gave him all the information about my sister and her ex-husband who were the primary signers. I think they are still having their wages garnished. My sister stared daggers at me during our mom's funeral.

Midland is threatening to sue me for credit card debt. I requested a letter of validation 6 months ago and have not received one yet. Who would be a good lawyer in Birmingham, Alabama area?
